Occupational Therapy
Our qualified Occupational Therapist, Jimmy, brings clinical allied health expertise alongside lived experience — a combination that sets Peers 4 People apart. Occupational Therapy (OT) focuses on helping you participate in the everyday activities that matter to you, from self-care and household tasks to getting out in the community and engaging in work or study.
Practical support for real daily life
OT is an evidence-based allied health profession that looks at the whole person — your physical, cognitive, sensory and emotional abilities — and works out how to improve your participation in daily life. Unlike some therapies that focus on a single area, OT takes a practical, real-world approach: what do you need to do each day, what is getting in the way, and how can we make it work better?
Assessment, strategies, and skill-building shaped around you
Functional Capacity Assessments
A comprehensive assessment of your abilities across daily living, household management, community access and social participation. Your OT will explore areas including personal hygiene, dressing, meal preparation, budgeting, transport, safety awareness and more. The resulting report provides detailed recommendations for support needs, therapy goals, assistive equipment, and home modifications — and can be used to support NDIS plan reviews and funding requests.
Daily Living Skill Development
Hands-on, practical support to build independence in everyday tasks. This might include developing routines for personal care, learning to cook and manage a household, building organisational and time management skills, or improving fine motor skills for tasks like writing or using technology. All skill development happens in your real environment — at home or in the community — so the skills transfer directly to your daily life.
Assistive Technology Recommendations
Assessment and recommendations for equipment and technology that can support your independence — from simple aids like modified utensils and dressing tools to more complex technology solutions. Your OT will trial options with you and provide reports to support funding applications.
Social Skills Development
OT can play a key role in building social skills — understanding social cues, managing conversations, navigating group settings, and developing the confidence to interact with others in everyday situations. Jimmy works with clients in real-world social environments to practise and build these skills in context, not just in theory.
Motor Skills and Physical Coordination
For clients with challenges around fine motor skills (handwriting, using tools, buttons, technology) or gross motor coordination (balance, movement, physical activity), our OT provides targeted assessment and intervention. This includes developing strategies and exercises to improve motor planning, hand-eye coordination, strength and endurance for the physical demands of daily life, work or recreation.
Sensory and Emotional Regulation Support
For clients who experience sensory processing difficulties, anxiety, or challenges with emotional regulation, our OT can develop tailored sensory strategies and environmental modifications to improve comfort, focus and self-regulation in daily life.
Better outcomes begin in your actual environment
Like all our services, OT is delivered via outreach. Jimmy comes to your home or meets you in the community — because assessing and building skills in your actual environment produces better, more lasting results than a clinic. Session frequency and duration are flexible and based on your goals and what is clinically appropriate.
At Home
Build routines and independence where daily life actually happens.
In the Community
Practise skills, participation, and confidence in real-world settings.
Flexible Sessions
Frequency and duration are matched to your goals and clinical needs.
Occupational therapy through NDIS, private, and referral pathways

OT services are typically funded under Capacity Building — Improved Daily Living (CB Daily Activity), with specific line items for assessment, therapy and report writing.
Private Clients
Occupational therapy is also available privately, with services shaped around your individual needs and goals.
Referral Pathways
Services are available through government-funded referral pathways where occupational therapy has been identified as appropriate.
Start with the everyday activities that matter to you
Tell us which daily activities, environments, or transitions are creating barriers right now. We will discuss your goals, current supports, and the most appropriate starting point for occupational therapy.
From there, Jimmy can recommend the right mix of assessment, practical intervention, equipment trials, skill development, and reporting.
